Healthcare Management Information System
The Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia (MoLHSA) with active financial and technical assistance from the USAID Health System Strengthening Project (HSSP) is introducing new and innovative common information system to meet information needs of the Ministry, insurance companies, healthcare providers and patients and ensure their interrelationship.
The Government of Georgia aims at developing wide-ranging Healthcare Management Information System to assist the Georgian population, the Government and parties involved in the healthcare system to receive information simply, effectively and timely and respond to it accordingly. Need and effectiveness of the initiative can be assessed according to the list of its potential results:
• Increased effectiveness of operational and analytical sides;
• Improved governmental control of state subsidized healthcare programs;
• Increased transparency of healthcare financing and decreased fraud rate;
• Standardized and institutionalized business processes and improved service quality;
• Improved healthcare data quality and better opportunities for comparison with international statistics;
• Improved access to healthcare services and information on insurance;
• Decision-making and policy development effective tools;
Implementation of the Healthcare Management Information System project started in February, 2011. It defines strategies and potential partners who will transform and modernize the system based on healthcare system management model.
